Writing from the Four Functions, with Tali Silver, LMHC
“For complete orientation (to the picture of a given situation, ibid) all four functions should contribute equally: thinking… feeling… sensation…. and intuition…” C.G. Jung, The Collected Works: Volume 6 (par 900).
In this shortened and adapted to remote experiential workshop, you’ll be invited to explore writing, one of the most powerful tools of self discovery, mining the unconscious and communication. We will begin with a brief introduction to Jung’s two orientations and four functions, and their relation with individuation, the journey towards wholeness. We’ll read excerpts from stories that correspond with specific functions and do a few short exercises. Adapting the course to an online format requires that you have some materials ready: A pad for writing, blank white paper, writing pens, colored pencils and/or crayons, scissors, tape and white out. You can print out the materials that will be emailed to you the week prior. We will end with a group exercise, sharing the viewing of a youtube video, writing from its inspiration, sharing at will and hopefully you’ll submit a few lines for a compilation that I will put together and share back with all participants by email.
By the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the Jung’s theory of the two orientations and four functions.
- Experience several approaches to stimulating writing.
- Be familiar with diverse resources for stimulating creative writing.
